Detroit Rising: How the Motor City Becomes A Restorative City is a five-part docuseries that follows me as I witness the power and potency of restorative practices to repair harm, restore relationships, and build community in nearly every sector of Detroit.
The Detroit Rising docuseries allowed my class to explore the variety of settings in which restorative practices can be implemented. It was the diversity of implementations that made Detroit Rising so unique! Typically, the literature and other resources provide a singular focus of restorative practices being implemented in school environments. Although this is a wonderful practice, the possible uses for restorative practices are far greater.”

Detroit Rising gives parents, educators, and activists who are working toward transformative justice, on small and large scales, an adaptable blueprint for an approach that works.
I produced, starred, and led community impact events for Detroit Rising, a work The Mercury News called “illuminating.” In addition, Detroit Rising won Best Web Series at the Cyrus International Film Festival and received a Special Mention in the Best Documentary category at the Venice Shorts Film Festival.
